This song was intended to be written for a singer-songwriter buddy of mine and I decided to keep it because I liked it so much. It is based on a Salvation Army song, written by Edward Henry Joy, that dates. Suddenly you’re transported to a country porch jam and what feels like a sorely needed, broken hearted love song. The main purpose of it was to create a moment of reflection during the concerts. This song starts out like a heavy end country song and quickly changes up to lighter fare with fiddle and banjo and the country guitar steps back to do some nimble, softer but complex leads. The Core band for The Barlow is Shea Boynton on vocals, guitar, and banjo Troy Scoope on bass Ben Richter on drums and Brad Johnson on guitar and vocals. Additional musicians on the album are Ben Waligoske on pedal steel Andy Schneider on keys and Dan Hochhalter on fiddle.
